These Blu-ray home video releases recapture some genuine film classics and give some recent films and NFL football the royal treatment.

Beauty and the Beast (Three-Disc Diamond Edition Blu-ray/DVD Combo) – This Disney animated classic set features three versions of the Oscar-nominated film on Blu-ray as well as the DVD. The “song along” mode, additional scenes, new characters, BD-Live games and music videos provide appeal to young audiences while older fans can enjoy extensive extras like an alternate opening, featurettes on the Broadway production, and an identity guessing game using BD-Live and a cell phone.

Apocalypse Now (Three Discs Full Disclosure), October 19 – This set features extensive audio commentaries from Francis Ford Coppola, storyboard galleries, and endless featurettes covering several filmmaking aspects including editing in “A Million Feet of Film: The Editing of Apocalypse Now“. A Marlon Brando poetry reading, additional scenes, Coppola interviews, special booklets, and making-of documentary “Hearts of Darkness” pack on even more content.

Alien Anthology, October 26 – This six-disc set addresses this modern day classic quartet with commentary tracks and special introductions with the talented directors like Ridley Scott, James Cameron and Jean-Pierre Jeunet. The highly inclusive extra features also include behind-the-scenes featurettes full of insight and creative differences throughout the filmmaking process. Each disc also features the MU-TH-UR Mode Interactive Experience with Weyland-Yutani Datastream where audiences can access special information while they watch.

Back to the Future 25th Anniversary Trilogy, Oct. 26 – This comedy, sci-fi adventure series features more than 15 deleted scenes, trivia features, an extended retrospective documentary, storyboard comparisons, interactive bookmark features which let audience set their favorite scenes. Extras on the DeLeorean car, hoverboards, and 80s music video features, including ZZ Top and Huey Lewis and the News, enhance the nostalgic feel while commentary from Robert Zemeckis, outtakes, and storyboard sequences expand the experience even more. More revelations like the initial casting of Eric Stoltz as Marty McFly should make this collection priceless.

Ultimate NFL, Oct. 26 – This National Football League extravaganza puts audience on the front lines of NFL Films cameramen who capture the game with high definition cameras, slow motion montages, and more angles than ever. All NFL teams are featured throughout the season and audiences can enjoy new Super Bowl XLIV footage.

Toy Story Trilogy (10-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy) Ultimate Toy Box Collection, November 2 – My favorite series is now available in multiple areas and players for the family. Pixar and Disney’s G-rated animated film trilogy gets an amazing double digit set featuring DVD versions and digital copies for each film plus a supplemental disc with expanded Toy Story 3 features and games.

The Sound of Music: 45th Anniversary Edition (Limited Edition Collector’s Set), Nov. 2 – This classic Rodgers & Hammerstein musical set features a sing-along, interviews, interactive quizzes, on-screen lyrics, BD-Live content, screen tests, and featurettes. The interactive “Musical Stages: Creating The Sound of Music: A City of Song” showcases filming locations in Salzburg, Austria.

The Complete Metropolis, November 16 – This classic science-fiction film set, made in 1927 by Fritz Lang, contains a remastered audio track, a preview of the April 2010 re-release, 25 minutes of additional footage plus a 50-minute documentary about how this “lost” footage was found. This new extended 147-minute film also features the original Gottfried Huppertz musical score.

Avatar: Extended Collection’s Edition, Nov. 16 – Everyone knew it was coming…it was just a matter of time. Eight hours of extras. A Pandorapedia resource, a family friendly audio track, BD-Live content, almost one hour of deleted scenes and three film versions – the original, special re-release (8 additional minutes), and collector’s extended cut with 16 additional minutes.

Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 Special Edition (Four Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo), November 30 – These two Disney musical animation masterpieces get the enhanced treatment with the 2003 Academy-Award Nominated short “Destino”, interactive art galleries, audio commentaries, and production features. BD-Live and a feature length documentary bring the music appeal up to a crescendo.

Avatar may not be available in 3D Blu-ray yet, but 3D TV owners might also enjoy documentary releases including Deep Sea 3D, Space Station 3D, and Under the Sea 3D as well as animated features including The Polar Express 3D, Disney’s A Christmas Carol and Open Season 3D – all releasing on November 16.
